Today, “The interaction of children with the craft of pottery, who expressed their great happiness in practicing these heritage handicrafts, during their participation in the interactive workshops organized by the Heritage Authority in Jeddah and Al -Khobar, within the activities of“ The Year of Handicraft 2025 ”, which also included workshops for the manufacture of wooden artifacts.
The pottery specialist, Heba Merhi, who holds a master’s degree from the University of Howard in Washington, stressed that pottery is going through several accurate stages, and that this craft learns patience and stimulates the creative aspect of the mind, in addition to its contribution to reducing tension and mental disorders.

She explained that the pottery industry begins with an easy -to -form liquid clay, whether using the wheel or by hand, and the drying stage takes 4 to 6 days until the clay gets rid of fluids, then the work moves to the burning stage with high temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius to hold the molecules more.
She added: Then the pottery is placed in the oven for 8 hours, and left to cool for a similar period, then the coloring stage begins, followed by another burning to ensure the stability of the colors, as the degrees of burning differ according to the type of clay and the colors used.

The 7 -year -old girl, “Celine”, expressed her great enthusiasm when touching and coloring the mud, and that the experience helped her in developing the talent of pottery coloring, and chose to design a decoration in the form of cherry, noting that she would guide this artistic work for her mother, with which she exchanged ideas about shapes and colors.
The 5 -year -old girl, “Layal”, stated that she colored a pink plate, which is her favorite color, and that she will keep the plate as a beautiful memory of this experience.
