The National Archives and Library enriches the National Library with quality sources and references


Abu Dhabi, July 10 / WAM / The National Archives and Library continue their efforts to develop the National Library’s collections and enrich them with specialized sources and references, within the framework of its strategy aimed at supporting scientific research, empowering knowledge societies, and strengthening the National Library’s position as a pioneering center for knowledge and preserving national memory.
In this context, the Archives and the National Library supplemented the National Library’s holdings with a number of scientific and intellectual sources and references acquired from the Doha International Book Fair 2026, and included specialized publications on the history and heritage of the Gulf region and Gulf studies, in addition to recent books documenting aspects of Qatari heritage and culture, and works that enhance studies related to cultural and historical relations between the countries of the Gulf region in a way that supports scientific research efforts and expands the horizons of knowledge among the general public of readers, researchers, academics, and those interested, and contributes to In meeting their needs, enriching studies and research related to the region’s history, heritage and culture, and keeping pace with the National Library’s trends in providing distinct, solid and diverse sources of knowledge.
In a related context, the Archives and the National Library enriched its knowledge collections with qualitative publications from the Rabat International Publishing and Book Fair 2026, which included specialized books and references in the fields of history, heritage, travel literature, popular literature, and oral narratives, in addition to works that enhance studies related to cultural and historical relations between the Gulf region and the countries of the Arab Maghreb, in a way that supports scientific research efforts and expands the horizons of knowledge.
As part of its ongoing efforts to develop knowledge collections, the National Archives and the National Library, through its regular participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and the Sharjah International Book Fair, in addition to major local, regional and international book fairs, continue to enrich the National Library’s collections with the most important scientific and intellectual sources and references, within an integrated strategy aimed at providing the library with the latest publications and diverse sources of knowledge, in a way that meets the needs of beneficiaries and enhances its position as a leading knowledge and research center.
Within the framework of developing knowledge collections, the National Library receives many valuable cultural donations that contribute to enriching its holdings and enhancing the diversity of its knowledge sources. Among the most recent of these donations is the distinguished collection that it received from the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center within the “Treasures of Knowledge” initiative, in a step that reflects the depth of cultural and knowledge cooperation, and supports efforts to spread knowledge and consolidate the culture of reading in society. This collection contained a selection of publications from the “Kalima” translation projects and “Israaat” for Arabic publishing, with the scientific value it represents. And culturally, it contributes to enriching the Arab cognitive content and enhancing cultural and intellectual mobility.
Hamad Al-Humairi, Director of the National Library Administration, stressed that participation in book fairs represents an important opportunity to acquire specialized publications and complete the National Library’s collections, as well as enhancing cooperation and communication with publishing houses and cultural and knowledge institutions, in a way that supports the efforts of the Archives and the National Library in providing an integrated knowledge environment that serves researchers and those interested.
He pointed out that the National Archives and Library are keen to provide the library with the Emirati intellectual heritage and preserve it, and to acquire various sources of knowledge related to the United Arab Emirates in various languages and from various publishing places around the world. This contributes to preserving national memory and enhancing cultural identity, in addition to activating supportive partnerships to build advanced library collections according to the best international standards.
