The UAE and Greece are looking to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership and developments in the joint investment fund

Athens, May 2 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of Adenk and its companies group made an official visit to the Republic of Greece, accompanied by a delegation that included representatives of the government and private sectors, including ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, “ADQ”, Mubadala Investment Company, Edge, “Pointzero”, and “Bressate”.
This visit comes with the aim of following up the developments of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Greece, which was signed in November 2020, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, and follow the outputs of the visit of His Excellency Kiriacos Mitsotakis to the state to the state in February 2025, as well as follow up on the latest developments of the joint investment fund between the two countries, which was announced In May 2022, worth (4 billion euros).
His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al -Jaber met with His Excellency Kiriacos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister, and conveyed to him the greetings of the leadership in the UAE and its wishes for Greece, a government and people with more progress and prosperity, stressing the UAE’s keenness to expand the areas of bilateral cooperation, and to advance it to new horizons that reflect the leadership’s aspirations in the two countries, especially in sectors of common concern.
The visit program included a meeting with His Excellency the Kostis Hatzazakis, Vice Prime Minister of Greece, during which the progress made within the course of the comprehensive strategic partnership was discussed, in addition to discussing ways to enhance economic cooperation, expand investments, and follow up on the implementation of existing projects between the two friendly countries within the framework of this partnership in a way that serves common interests and enhances sustainable development in addition to a number of issues and topics of common concern.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al -Jaber also met His Excellency Nikos Dennedas, Greek Defense Minister, and ways to enhance cooperation in the advanced industries and industrial sector were discussed, including exchanging experiences and best practices, and the possibility of developing new partnerships in the areas of military industrialization and associated technologies.
During the visit, it was announced that approval of the continuation of the current agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Greece regarding avoiding double tax in a way that contributes to strengthening the investment environment and keeping pace with the aspirations of both sides towards expanding the horizons of economic cooperation.
The visit program also included a strategic dialogue with the title “Emirates and Greece: a new chapter in the economic partnership march” gathered representatives of government agencies and companies from the private sector, during which a number of investment opportunities were discussed in priority areas of the two countries including energy, renewable energy, industry, advanced technology, infrastructure, data centers, and others.
During the visit, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al -Jaber toured the headquarters of the Tirna Renewable Energy Company (which was acquired by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar” and is considered the largest investor in the renewable energy sector in Greece and during which Georgios Breester, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tirna Energy, and a number of senior employees met.
During the meeting, the company’s strategic plan was discussed and its plans to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy projects in southeast and central Europe.
The visit also included a number of facilities affiliated with the company, with the aim of seeing the technology used in its operations.
The delegation of the state included His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Dhaheri, the State Ambassador to Greece, His Excellency Badr Jaafar, the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Business and Charitable Affairs, Hamad Abdullah Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of the Group in “ADQ”, Muhammad Al -Ramahi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, Mira Al Suwaidi, Head of the Sovereign Partnership Unit at Mubadala Investment Company “Mubadala” Parmotideham, CEO of Brissit, Mohamed Zafar, CEO of E.0, and Farhan Malik, Founder and Managing Director of the Pure Health Group, as well as representatives of a number of private sector companies.
It is worth noting that the total non -oil trade exchange between the UAE and the Republic of Greece in 2024 amounted to about 2.22 billion dirhams, registering annual growth by 6%, driven by a noticeable increase in imports by 26.3%.
The first quarter of this year also witnessed a growth in trade exchange by more than 40%compared to the same period last year, as a result of the increase in exports by more than 140%, and the re -export by 46%, in addition to an increase in imports of 26%.
During the past five years, non -oil trade between the two countries recorded a cumulative growth of 80%, supported by a significant increase in exports (by 72%) and imports (by 84%).
This growth maintained a positive pace with an annual growth rate of 16%, which reflects the strength of commercial relations and the sustainability of its development.
