The session witnessed the signing of the first edition of a series of educational strategic reports under the title “Strategic Owner of Curriculum: Towards Education that enhances global competitiveness and respects local identity”, within the series “Dam Teacher Bed and Skills Building”.

The session hosted Dr. Karima Matar Al Mazrouei, advisor at Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, which presented an analytical vision on the importance of developing educational curricula to keep pace with global competitiveness requirements while preserving the local cultural identity.

She reviewed the motives for preparing this research series, stressing that it came to fill an important gap between educational policies and the rapid changes witnessed by educational systems globally, explaining that the series represents a practical tool for educational decision makers to redesign curricula in a balanced manner that takes into account the requirements of the changing labor market and maintains the essence of national identity and authentic values.

The doctor also dealt with the most prominent conclusions reached by the first report, noting the necessity of setting a flexible national framework for the development of educational curricula, and the importance of enhancing the role of the teacher as an essential axis of change and reform in the educational process in addition to that, the report recommended the adoption of a sustainable and effective partnership model between educational institutions and society in its various sectors.

In her answer to a question about the most important element in the educational process, Dr. Al Mazrouei stressed the importance of integration between the teacher, the student and the curriculum, noting that they constitute a system whose parts cannot be separated, stressing that the curriculum remains the main pillar from which all the reform and development efforts are launched, as it defines the goals, contents and educational means.
