The Kingdom achieved a prominent progress in the report “Open Data Stock for the year 2024” issued by the “Open Data Watch”, as it rose to the 41st in the world out of 197 countries, ahead of 28 ranks compared to the evaluation of 2022.
The Kingdom also advanced within the G20 countries from the 15th to 9th rank in the 2024 report compared to the previous report, which reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing transparency, and the ease of access to statistical data, where the ODIN report is based on two main elements: the degree of coverage, which measures the comprehensiveness and diversity of official statistics, and the degree of easy access to statistics and the ability to use them.

Global praise in the Kingdom

“Open Data Watch”, through its official report, praised the great development achieved by the Kingdom, considering that this progress is the result of continuous efforts and qualitative initiatives that deserve praise, as its degree in data coverage increased by 16 points, and the ease of access by 15 points, achieving a total growth in the total degree by 143% since 2017, which confirms the Kingdom’s keenness to adopt international best practices in the field of data Open.
This national achievement comes as a result of the efforts of the General Authority for Statistics, which leads the national statistical work system, through the development of statistical products, the launch of strategic indicators supporting the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, in addition to expanding the provision of open data, and facilitating access to them through official digital platforms.

In the context of achieving the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, the authority strengthened its strategy to develop its technical infrastructure, enabling government agencies, the private sector and researchers to use statistics to support strategic planning and decision -making, and the authority’s efforts also contributed to enhancing a culture of transparency and providing statistics, and raising the level of societal awareness of its importance as a major engine for sustainable development and innovation.
This progress in the organization’s report reflects the growing position of the Kingdom as a regional and global center to provide official statistical indicators, in a way that establishes its role in building a sustainable knowledge -based economy, enhances transparency, supports attracting investments, and keeps pace with the urgent digital transformations witnessed by the world.
