The Royal Commission confirmed that the Makkah Al -Mukarramah Building depends on three architectural sources: the second Saudi expansion of the Grand Mosque, which is an architectural source, landscapes, and traditional architecture.
The design directions were formulated within six main axes that include: oneness, the campus, reverence, movement, nature, and abstraction, to preserve the spirituality of the place and enhance the experience of the guests of Rahman.
The launch of the “Makkah Al -Mukarramah and the Holy Places” aims to develop the urban scene in a sustainable and balanced manner through the use of local materials that reflect the natural environment of Makkah, and to provide various alternatives to construction that contribute to promoting urban harmony.
The design directives seek to achieve the integration between originality and renewal, improving the quality of life, and finding an urban environment worthy of the position of the city of Makkah Al -Mukarramah globally.
Urban design and urban planning
The Royal Commission explained that this step represents the product of an integrated work in which the various relevant government agencies participated, in addition to the private sector and a group of experts and specialists in the areas of urban design and urban planning, stressing that the originality of the Makkah Al -Mukarramah building contributes to strengthening the urban scene of the city of Makkah and the holy sites, and supports the vision of Saudi architecture in highlighting the character of Saudi cities, taking into account the historical and cultural aspects And economic.
The launch of Makkah Al -Mukarramah and the Holy Places is part of a comprehensive plan led by the Royal Commission; With the aim of developing the city of Makkah Al -Mukarramah and the Holy Places, including urban, economic and social projects, to improve the quality of life and improve the urban scene in Makkah and the holy sites.
