The Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf held its forty -seventh extraordinary meeting today, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, President of the current session of the Ministerial Council Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al -Yahya.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Khalifa bin Shaheen Al -Murar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Walid bin Abdul Karim Al -Khuraiji, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al -Marikhi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jarrah Al -Ahmad Al -Sabah, and the Secretary -General Arab Gulf Jassim Mohammed Abdullah Al -Badawi.

Results of the meeting

After discussing these developments, the following was reached:

The Ministerial Council stressed the necessity of Iraq’s respect for the sovereignty of Kuwait and its territorial integrity, and commitment to bilateral and international pledges and agreements and all relevant United Nations resolutions, especially Security Council Resolution No. (833) (1993 AD) regarding the demarcation of the Kuwaiti -Iraqi and marine borders, and called for the completion of the demarcation of the maritime borders between the two countries after the maritime mark (162), in accordance with the rules and principles of international law, and the agreement The United Nations for the Law of the Sea of ​​the year (1982).

The Ministerial Council stressed the importance of making positive progress regarding the demarcation of the maritime borders between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of ​​the year (1982), and the rules and principles of international law, stressing the importance of the full commitment to the Technical and Legal Committee for the demarcation of the maritime borders for the postmod.
