The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court records the largest civil divorce settlement in the Middle East with a value of 100 million dirhams

Abu Dhabi, May 8/ WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court, affiliated to the Judicial Department, registered the largest civil divorce settlement between a foreign couple at the level of the Middle East, which exceeded 100 million dirhams “27 million US dollars”, which reflects the position of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a pioneering international legal center that keeps pace with the finest international standards.
The couple, who had previously held their marriage in the United Kingdom, asked to end the marital relationship by restricting a civil divorce case without harm before the competent court in Abu Dhabi, benefiting from the civil marriage law and its effects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi No. 14 of 2021, which was first introduced in the Middle East civil rules for the personal status of foreigners.
The two parties reached a comprehensive settlement of their financial rights resulting from the divorce, before the Civil Family Court, in cooperation with one of the largest British law firms specialized in personal status cases, in a move that confirms the growing international confidence in the state’s legal system.
