Iranian media reported on Wednesday that Zahra Mirzai, an anchor for the official “horizon” channel, was killed by her cousin in an incident that occurred west of the capital, Tehran, specifically in the “Glassan” neighborhood.

The channel stated that the crime was committed out of theft, as Mirzai’s body was found inside her bedroom, and traces of beating with a sharp machine on the head seemed to have a segmental wound in the neck.

According to Iranian security sources, the murderer admitted during the investigations of the crime to steal gold, and the stolen items inside his pocket were seized during his arrest.
