The friend of the friendly Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, granted Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak (Mother of the Emirates), President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, and the Medal of the Republic, in appreciation of her pioneering efforts in supporting women, family and childhood issues, and her prominent human and societal role at the regional and international levels.

This came on the sidelines of her Highness’s visit to the Dolmah Palace in the presence of Amina Erdogan, the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the accompanying delegation to His Highness.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak is the first female figure to obtain this medal that the President of the Turkish Republic gives, based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

He expressed his great happiness with the official visit carried out by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to Turkey, and confirmed the depth of fraternal ties and strong friendship that laid the foundations of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and indicated that these relationships witness today growth and prosperity in various fields.

The Turkish President also praised the pivotal role played by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, through the activities and initiatives implemented by the institutions and organizations that head it.

He highly appreciated her value efforts and prominent contributions in vital fields, such as family, motherhood, childhood, women, education and health, and stressed that these works left clear imprints in the march of social and cultural development of the UAE, and have received a wide estimate at the local and international levels.

Her Highness indicated that the relations between the two countries are witnessing an accelerated growth according to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and said that the sincere will of the wise leadership of the two countries aimed at building bridges of cooperation and understanding is proceeding strongly, in a way that is good for the people of the two countries and contributes to supporting stability and development in the region.

Her Highness was briefed on some of the corridors of the historical palace overlooking the Bosphorus Strait from the European side of Istanbul, where she saw a group of unique holdings that included rare artifacts, in addition to decorative furniture that reflects the splendor of Islamic arts that mixed in the design of the palace.

Her Highness’s tour included the pavilions of the palace, which was characterized by its unique decorations and its ancient furniture, as well as the huge gates and the great hall that witnessed the most prominent political meetings, as well as its highness to the cultural and political history that the palace embraces.

During her tour, Her Highness listened to an explanation by the palace organizers about its ancient history, as its construction work began in 1834 during the reign of Sultan Abdul Majeed I, and was completed after 13 years of work, to be the headquarters of the Ottoman sultans, and was designed in an architectural style that combines European and east, and includes more than 285 rooms, 46 reception halls and a showroom.

Her Highness expressed her happiness with this visit, which allowed her to get to know a part of Turkish history, and see what is abundant in the Dolma Palace with an architectural and cultural arts that reflect the legacy and diversity of this civilization, and the imprints it left in terms of art, heritage and human renaissance.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak continued during the visit, a presentation of Turkish fashion, which was held inside the Dolma Palace, which reflected his designs inspired by the Turkish heritage, which is mixed with modern touches, the spirit of innovation, modernity, and the preservation of the authentic Turkish culture.

Amina Erdogan held a lunch banquet in honor of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and the accompanying delegation for her Highness, attended by a number of prominent female figures from the Turkish side.
