Mohammed bin Rashid discusses with the President of Pakistan bilateral relations and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields

DUBAI, 28 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, met today at Zabeel Palace, His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Vice President. The Council of Ministers of the Minister of Finance, where they discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan, and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and the two friendly peoples.

The meeting, which was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also discussed a number of regional and international issues and developments, as the two sides stressed the importance of supporting stability in the region, and enhancing dialogue and international cooperation in a way that contributes to achieving security and sustainable development.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the UAE’s keenness to continue strengthening its strategic partnerships with Pakistan, based on the established historical relations that unite the two countries, and in a way that reflects the UAE’s vision based on building bridges of cooperation and integration with various countries of the world.

For his part, the Pakistani President stressed the importance of the strategic relations between Pakistan and the UAE, praising the role of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in strengthening bilateral cooperation paths, and appreciating the keenness of both sides to advance the partnership in the economic and development fields in order to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Supreme Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al. Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, and a number of sheikhs and senior officials.

The meeting was also attended from the Pakistani side by First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, daughter of the Pakistani President, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Pakistani Interior Minister, Asim Hussain, Advisor to the President, Shafqat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Brigadier General Sajid Akbar, Military Secretary to the President.

This came on the sidelines of His Highness’s meeting with a group of the country’s notables, businessmen, merchants, investors, and senior officials of government and semi-governmental agencies and departments, as part of His Highness’s keenness to enhance constructive dialogue with various components of the business community, and to support the strategic partnership between the government and private sectors. A number of development and economic issues were reviewed, and ways to support the business environment and enhance the efficiency of government work were discussed, in line with the country’s aspirations towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met with the graduates of the Zayed II Military College, and congratulated them on their excellence and distinction, praising their discipline and competence, stressing that investing in national cadres is the basis for building the nation’s future and enhancing its defense capabilities.

The list of top performers at Zayed II Military College included: Rashid Saif Al Tunaiji, who received the Sword of Honour, Rashid Mohammed Al Mansouri, second in the overall total, Rashid Saif Al Ali, first in mobilization, Hamad Abdel Moneim Al Mannai, commander of protocols, and Saber Mohammed Al Wattiri, first in the overall total of brotherly and friendly countries.

His Highness also met with the pioneers of the Dubai Police Academy, expressing his pride in their achievements, and valuing the role of educational and security institutions in preparing national leaders capable of maintaining security and strengthening the rule of law.
