America announces an agreement on customs duties with China

American commercial actor Jimson Jarir said that the United States has reached an “agreement” in its talks with China on the conflict on customs duties, noting that the details will be announced later in the day.

Jarir indicated that US President Donald Trump announced last month a “national emergency” due to the massive trade deficit with China, which is $ 1.2 trillion.

“We are confident that the agreement we reached with our Chinese partners will help us move forward towards ending this state of national emergency,” said Jaririum on Sunday after a two -day meeting.

“We are confident that the agreement we reached with our Chinese partners will help us work towards resolving the state of national emergency,” said US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who was also in Geneva. He added that “great progress” has been achieved.

US President Donald Trump had caused a curiosity when customs duties were 145% on Chinese goods, and China responded with 125% reprisal fees on American imports, which raised fears of a global trade war.

Later, Trump put forward the idea of reducing the customs duties imposed on China from 145% to 80%.

Trump said early Sunday morning that the two sides made “great progress” on the first day of the talks in Switzerland.

“Many matters have been discussed, and many of them have been reached. A comprehensive but constructive re -seized reset has been negotiated.”

He added: “We want, for the benefit of both China and the United States, to witness the openness of the Chinese market to American business.”
