The UAE participates in the meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council for the development summit in Baghdad

Abu Dhabi, May 13 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates participated in the meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, which was held in Baghdad, which is the preparatory meeting for the fifth session of the economic and social development summit to be held in the Republic of Iraq, in conjunction with the thirty -fourth regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level on the 17th of this month.

The state’s delegation participating in the meetings was chaired by His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, on behalf of His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy, and included His Excellency Juma Muhammad Al -Kate, the assistant undersecretary for the international trade sector in the ministry, along with a number of officials.

His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh stressed that the UAE, thanks to the directives and vision of its wise leadership, places at the heart of its development strategy to support joint Arab action and active contribution to building a prosperous future for Arab societies, by adopting innovative solutions and promoting sustainable and comprehensive development, especially in sectors that represent a bet for the future.

His Excellency explained that the meeting highlighted the most prominent initiatives submitted by the UAE that were implemented at the level of the Arab world, and contributed to making hope and the best future for the Arab person, and the rehabilitation and empowerment of Arab youth, in the forefront of which is the “Hope Makers Initiative” to enhance humanitarian work, and the “Arab reading challenge” to consolidate the culture of reading, and the “knowledge award” to support research and innovation, and the “digital school” as a pioneering model for sustainable learning, And the “Mother and Family Award” the ideal Arab family “in honor of the role of the family, the” Arab Award for Social Media “and the” Arab Youth Center “initiative, along with the” Arab Dogs Initiative “, which is the largest in the region to discover and empower exceptional talents.

The meeting also discussed a set of important economic, social and development initiatives, foremost of which are the developments of the Great Arab Free Trade Zone, and the completion of the requirements of the establishment of the Arab Customs Union, in a way that contributes to enhancing Arab economic integration and achieving more commercial and investment openness among member states.

His Excellency Al Saleh pointed out the importance of the initiative launched by His Excellency the Secretary -General of the League of Arab States under the title “The Arab Initiative for Artificial Intelligence: Towards Technology and Sustainable Development”, stressing that the UAE supports these trends and welcomes the participation of experiences and supporting partnerships in light of its pioneering experience in this direction, based on its belief in the importance of artificial intelligence as a major engine for future economic and social growth, and the role of modern technology as a tool A pivotal to enhance productivity and improve the capabilities and competitiveness of Arab economies.

He said, “We confirm the UAE’s commitment to support all Arab efforts aimed at enhancing stability and prosperity in the region, by adopting flexible policies and effective partnerships, which enhances the ability of Arab economies to keep pace with global changes and achieve balanced and comprehensive development.”

The meeting discussed the items presented on the agenda of the development summit, the most prominent of which is the Arab Food Security Strategy 2025-2035, the strategic framework and the executive work plan for the regional program for economic and social empowerment for Arab women, and declaring principles on the future of human resources in light of the technological revolution, as well as working to prepare an Arab strategy for developing school and university health.

The meeting discussed the mechanisms of enhancing Arab coordination in a number of vital sectors, which included the development of inter -trade, the development of food supply chains, support for development projects directed to youth and women, as well as discussing joint efforts to improve health and educational infrastructure at the regional level.

Participants also reviewed the most prominent initiatives offered by member states, where views were exchanged on ways to activate them and achieve the desired impact on the ground, in a way that contributes to upgrading the standard of living in Arab societies, and enhances sustainable development opportunities based on innovation and economic and social integration.
