“Global Health” warns of the deterioration of the food and health situation in Gaza and Sudan and the spread of cholera in Yemen

The World Health Organization expressed its concern about the deterioration of the situation in Gaza after recording more than (52) thousand deaths, and about (120) thousand injuries, and thousands of health workers were killed, injured or detention. The regional director of the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization, Dr. Hanan Belki, reported that the remaining hospitals in the Gaza Strip are fighting to maintain the lowest levels of service, as a result of the ban on the Israeli occupation forces to enter aid Life savvy, and after nine weeks of a comprehensive siege, the Israeli authorities propose to cancel the United Nations -led aid distribution system, and distribute them according to the conditions specified by the army.

She emphasized that the World Health Organization and the United Nations will not be a party to any initiative that violates humanitarian principles, noting that three quarters of Gaza population face disastrous levels of hunger and deprivation of food, indicating the spread of diseases very quickly.

In the same context, Dr. Hanan touched on the current situation in Yemen, and cholera was spread in Yemen, as last year witnessed more than (270) thousand suspects and (900) deaths.

In Sudan, Dr. Hanan Belki pointed out that about (24.6) million people suffer from food insecurity this month, including (770) thousand children, and attacks on civilians and health infrastructure are still continuing, stressing that the organization continues to provide support and supplies to (136) emergency centers, in addition to spreading medical teams to combat cholera that claimed (1600) people in (12) states.
