UAE and the United States .. strategic cooperation in nuclear energy projects
Abu Dhabi, May 15 / WAM / His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, confirmed that the company is cooperating with the major American companies specialized in nuclear energy technology, to invest in new projects or redevelop them, in addition to exploring opportunities to develop and spread mini -reactors, within the framework of the advanced program of nuclear energy technologies launched by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company in the year 2023 for this purpose.
He said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the company is also invested in its acquaintances and experiences gained in providing strategic consultations that are of great benefit on the Emirati and American sides, noting that the “UAE nuclear energy” has moved to a new stage represented in focusing on investing in new nuclear energy projects around the world, and exploring opportunities to develop and use new and advanced technologies for nuclear energy reactors, both inside or outside the UAE, and from that, and from that, and from that, and from that Investment and building partnerships in the United States, which is witnessing significant growth in the clean energy sector, specifically the nuclear energy sector.
He added: “The United Arab Emirates presented a model to be followed in developing new nuclear energy programs, whether in terms of strategic planning or accurate management, or developing a chain of supply and human competencies specialized in this sector, which enabled the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company to develop and operate the four” Baraka “nuclear energy stations according to the highest local and international standards, which led to the company possessing great knowledge and experiences in the nuclear energy sector.
Cooperation between the UAE and the United States in the field of nuclear energy is a global model in the peaceful and responsible use of nuclear technology, as the two sides witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in order to enhance bilateral cooperation, including the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Emirates Nuclear Energy and the American “Terrabau” specializing in innovation in the nuclear energy sector, with the aim of joint cooperation in the field of developing advanced technology applications in this sector.
During the year 2023, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with X Energy to develop miniature nuclear reactors and nuclear energy technologies, in line with the “advanced program for nuclear energy technologies, in addition to cooperation with” Westinghaus “in developing advanced nuclear energy reactors, as well as signing a memorandum of understanding during the past year with” General Atomics “to explore the chances of using technologies and advanced materials in promoting Nuclear power supply.
