The culture and heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain roams the world with an authentic national identity

A wealthy year with the active and external cultural movement in which the Bahraini culture and its original heritage roamed the countries of the world, to introduce the Bahraini national identity and mix it between the cultures of the peoples of the earth from its east to its west, where Bahrain launched early in June 2024 from the city of Osaka in Japan the seasons of creativity and flowering of culture, by developing the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Archeology the foundation stone of its great national wing in the “Expo Osaka exhibition 2025 “The international in the presence of Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, head of the commission and the General Commissioner of the Kingdom’s Pavilion in Expo.
Expo – This ancient international cultural and humanitarian event, is the most prominent in Bahrain’s calendar for cultural events and activities; The Kingdom is always keen on periodic participation in it with a distinguished wing in terms of architectural design and cultural content, in order to provide Bahraini culture, heritage and creativity to the world.

The exhibition started on April 13th and will continue until October 13 in Osaka – Kansai in Japan and this year is held under the slogan “Innovation of the Future to improve the lives of societies”, and the Bahrain pavilion reflects its commitment to constructive cultural and civilizational communication between the peoples of the world, and enhancing its position as a destination for innovation and sustainability on the international scene.
The Bahrain Pavilion is located in the “improvement of life” area of ​​the exhibition against the sea, deserving of an area of ​​995 square meters and consisting of 4 floors with a total height of up to 13.7 meters.

The pavilion, which was designed by the office of the Lebanese -French architect “Lina Gutta” in Paris, sheds light on the rich history of traditional ships and the deep and immortal relationship of Bahraini society with the sea, drawing inspiration from the marine heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its points of meeting with the culture of the distinctive maritime history of the manufacture of wooden ships in Japan, which spin a unique imaginary summons to the trips of the ancient ships that were roaming The eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula on Trade trips to and from East Asia, as well as in mind the history of traditional Bahraini crafts and mixing them with Japanese craftsmanship in the use of timber to make ships.
In line with the vision and policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting sustainability, the wing was completely designed and built of wood with an aluminum external structure, as it will undergo a fully recycling process after the end of the Expo period. The wing takes advantage of the advantage of its proximity to the sea for cooling and ventilation purposes, as its design includes a modern re -explanation of the old traditional cooling means and seeks to reduce its dependence on any mechanical cooling means. With regard to the interior design of the wing and the exhibition halls, it was mainly designed by the Bahraini design studio “Shepherd”, as it provides an interactive and overwhelming experience for visitors that sheds light on the richness of the ancient sea culture in Bahrain and its logistical and natural sources.
The Kingdom’s participation in Expo Osaka this year is characterized by allocating an attached space for business and promoting the global competitive investment of Bahrain and introducing it as an ideal and exceptional environment in support of the future economy and a favorite destination for investment, business and sustainable life.
Golden Lion Award in Venice Biennial
From the far east to the heart of Europe, another world Bahraini wing emerged in the city of Venice, Italy, where the Kingdom of Bahrain’s wing “Wave” won the Golden Assad Award for the category of national posts at the nineteenth international exhibition of architecture – Venice Biennial. During his reception of the award at the exhibition award ceremony on May 10, 2025, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the General Commissioner of the Bahrain Pavilion for his pride and pride in the Golden Assad Award in the Venice Biennial and said: Exchanging ideas and initiatives with all countries of the world. ”

He added: “The Bahrain Pavilion (a free wave) not only deals with environmental challenges in Bahrain, but rather that the whole world faces. Through this concept, we wanted to highlight these issues in an innovative way.” He thanked the distinguished work team for its various contributions to the design and presentation of the pavilion.
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities with the pavilion also launched a printed version that includes digital analyzes, articles and polls that contribute to expanding the impact of the research project on which the pavilion was built in Biennial.

Bahrain’s participation this year represented the eighth participation, as an extension of the Kingdom’s march in the global exhibition, as its architectural vision presents in the face of environmental and social challenges, within the framework of the current session of the current session “smart, natural, industrial, collective”.
– The bright of Bahraini gold in Moscow
From Venice to the Russian capital, Moscow, where the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Culture, organized the “Bahraini Cultural Days” event hosted by the city of Moscow in November 2024, through which it opened a window for the Russian public to see the culture, heritage and arts of Bahrain throughout history.

The Bahraini cultural days in Moscow witnessed the presentation of two local films: “Al -Bashara” by Bahraini director Mohamed Bouali, and the documentary “with passion” by Bahraini director Ahmed Al -Zaki, and a Bahraini music ceremony was held with the participation of a bunch of Bahraini artists and musicians.

The events concluded with the exhibition “From the Treasures of Bahrain”, which displays the art of drafting gold through the ages “in the historic state museum, and lasted for three months, where visitors took a journey through the history of gold formulation in Bahrain, starting from the Taylaus era about 2000 years ago, through the Islamic era to the modern era. The exhibition presented the opportunity to see a unique Bahraini gold pieces that embody the skill of Bahraini craftsmen, in addition to gold Documentation documents the Kingdom’s efforts to preserve this ancient craft heritage and shed light on this vital sector and its role in supplying the national economy, and making Bahrain an important center in producing precious metals, natural pearls and gold, and clarifying the role of developing legislation, regulations and laws related to the supervision, industry and trade of precious metals, pearls and precious stones.
In exchange, Bahrain hosted within the activities of the Nineteenth Culture Spring Festival and coinciding with the occasion of celebrating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Russia, the days of Russian cultural seasons on the stage of the Bahrain National Theater, which embraced impressive performances of traditional Dagestan dances, and the cultural program entitled “The Magic of Animation”, which was presented by SMF studio and ensures offers and workshops Various seminars that before the end of the current year are held, two distinct cultural activities, the first offered the famous international “hazelnut crusher” ballet in the Bahrain National Theater, while the cultural hall will host the Osipov orchestra ceremony of the National Academy of Russian Folk Specifications with the participation of Bahraini folk arts.

In conjunction with the celebrations of the Kingdom of Bahrain with its national holidays and the twenty -fifth sitting feast of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and the accompanying national occasions in December 2024, the third edition of the distinguished artistic cultural festival “Layali Al -Muharraq”, which succeeded over a full month in converting that historical city into a global cultural and tourist destination that brought together heritage and modernity, is a delicious special public participation this year Among the visitors of the countries of the sister Cooperation Council, foreign tourists, citizens and residents, in addition to a variety of Bahraini and international artists, who have presented more than 190 Bahraini and international musical events, as well as providing cultural and artistic performances, handicrafts, heritage and tourist tours in the old Heritage homes, reflecting the spirit of Muharraq and its ancient history through various and distinctive visual experiences, which contributed to enhancing the place Muharraq at the local and regional levels as part of the United Cities Network of UNESCO since 2019.
The “Muharraq Nights Festival along the Pearl Path registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which extends for a distance of 3.5 km, starting from the coast of Bou Maher to the Pearl Museum, through a sovereign council, is held in an integrated experience commensurate with various tastes and expresses the potential of Bahraini culture and its arrival in the world from the heart of the homeland.
On the other hand, the annual cultural seasons and festivals in the Kingdom of Bahrain continue with distinctive regional and global participation, to open up spacious horizons that contain the comprehensive and broad concept of culture and generous investment in culture, which is keen to support and encourage it, the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and civil society institutions in a distinguished partnership to support the factors of those soft forces influencing, between the private and government sector in the service of sustainable national paths according to the economic vision of the Kingdom.
