More than 100 relief organizations call for urgent measures to save Yemen from the brink of the disaster

In press releaseThe relief organizations – which include a number of international agencies – said that aid is running out due to the sharp reduction in financing. It stated that the air strikes resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties and damaged vital infrastructure.
Prior to the seventh meeting of senior humanitarian officials scheduled for Wednesday in Brussels, United Nations and international NGOs operating in Yemen called on the international community to take urgent and collective measures to prevent catastrophic circumstances.
The humanitarian needs and response plan in Yemen for this year was only funded by less than 10% of the required amount, which prevents the provision of necessary assistance to millions of people throughout Yemen, including women, girls, displaced societies, children, refugees, immigrants, and other weak and marginalized groups that bear the greater burden of the crisis.
The relief agencies in the field continue to provide aid despite the lack of financing and other challenges such as insecurity, the restrictions imposed on arrival, and the continued detention of the de facto powers of the humanitarian workers.
The agencies appealed to the urgently donors to increase flexible, timely and regular financing for the humanitarian needs and response plan. She urged the international community to seize the opportunity of the meeting of senior officials to help the Yemenis rebuild their lives in dignity.
