Starting anecdotal evaluation participating in the 16th session of the Ghanem Ghobash Award

Abu Dhabi, May 21/ WAM/ The UAE Writers Union announced the start of the evaluation work for the current session of the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award in its 16th session of 2025, in the short story branches and the anecdotal group, where specialized jury committees began their work in studying the participating works according to accurate standards that take into account originality, technical quality and innovation in the offering.

The door for applying to run for the award was closed on April 23, amid a great demand from the writers, talented and interested in writing the short story, and the award included in its new session next to the story, the category of “the story collection”.

The jury began to evaluate the advanced posts in the two categories, based on accurate technical standards, and the number of participants in this session in its first branch exceeded the number that it received in its previous session.

Sheikha Al -Jabri, Secretary -General of the Award, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that the award since its inception witnessed a wide participation of the story writers in the country, and the Emirati talents that are concerned with this type of literature, which indicates the importance of the award and its important impact in the cultural movement in the country, and its pivotal role in building an intellectual conscious society, in line with the values ​​and authentic community customs.

She added that the expansion of the award comes within the framework of the commitment of the UAE Writers Union to support writers and talented in the field of fictional narration, and to enhance the cultural and literary movement in the country, in a way that contributes to highlighting new creative voices and honoring distinguished literary experiences.

The award, which bears the name of the late writer Ghanem Ghobash, reflects a renewed cultural vision that seeks to consolidate the values ​​of creativity and excellence, and motivate young generations to express itself through the written word.
