The center begins in its vision of its deep belief in the importance of writing as a soft power that promotes thought, expresses identity, and contributes to building awareness. Therefore, his efforts vary to include multiple paths, starting from discovering talents, and does not end at the limits of honor and empowerment; His innovative programs highlight the Emirati literary works, and introduces the audience with the experiences of Emirati writers and their literary and intellectual visions.
These efforts resulted in a remarkable Emirati presence in the major cultural demonstrations, the last of which was the 34th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which witnessed the participation of more than 170 Emirati thinkers and writers in sessions and workshops that discussed urgent cultural, intellectual and social issues, along with 275 local exhibitors, and 70 government institutions whose wings hosted sessions and dialogues that dealt with cultural affairs on The local and international arenas.
To complete this trend, the center launched the “Publisher Author” initiative, which provided 20 Emirati writers who participated in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair a platform for direct interaction with their fans, and strengthened their opportunities in the publishing market, by building sustainable partnerships with publishers, and opening new horizons for marketing and promotion.
The “Pen for Creative Writing” program, which was launched in the year 2023, is an essential pillar in the center’s strategy to support Emirati talent in writing authorship; It provides a fertile environment for the development of literary capabilities.
In a move that reflects the fruits of this trend, the center launched during this year’s session from the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair a storytelling entitled “The House of Stories”, which was produced by a child writing workshop within the “Pen” program, including 9 stories of young Emirati writers, some of whom are published for the first time, with drawings of 8 Emirati painters.
The Sheikh Zayed Book Award also won a number of Emirati writers and thinkers, as well as the Gold List Prize, and the treasure of the generation.
These prizes combined the pioneering role played by the center in consolidating a culture of appreciation and recognition of Emirati literary and intellectual excellence, and providing inspiring models of writers and thinkers who left an impact on the local and international cultural scenes.
As part of his endeavor to build sustainable partnerships with the poles of the local publishing industry; The center, in cooperation with the Emirati Publishers Association, launched the Emirati Publishers Forum. Its second edition, which was organized last March, in the presence of 50 Emirati publishers, witnessed the announcement of the allocation of the digital book category from the “lights on publishing rights” grant for the year 2025, for Emirati publishers, with the aim of supplying the digital Arab Library with specific local publications, and keeping pace with the leadership directions to the need to take care of Emirati creators.
In the integration and continuity of these efforts, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center proves that the Emirati writer is not just an individual voice, but a pillar in building the cultural scene, and that investing in the word is an investment in awareness, identity, and future.
