"UAE for rain" It adopts the brief list of research proposals in its sixth session

Abu Dhabi, May 28 / WAM / The UAE program for rain science research, affiliated with the National Meteorological Center, announced that 16 initial research proposals for the next stage within its sixth session, out of 140 proposals that were received in the initial stage of the evaluation process.
The announcement came after a careful evaluation process that spanned a month and ended with the meeting of the International Technical Review Committee, which includes a number of experts and specialists from all over the world.
The committee held a virtual meeting on the 20th and 21st of May to choose the best research offers in terms of its compatibility with the main fields of research, its scientific distinction and its potential impact, the researcher’s experience and the possibility of project success, and opportunities for cooperation, in addition to the opportunities to develop the rain research sector.
The research proposals submitted the main research fields with priority for the sixth cycle, which include the development of improved insemination materials, the formation of withdrawal and enhancement of rain, the development of independent air systems, the study of limited climate intervention, the development of models, software and advanced data.
The program called on the researchers who qualified for the next stage to submit full research no later than August 28, 2025, provided that Fazi research grants are announced in January 2026.
The program supports within its sixth session of up to three innovative research projects by providing financial grants worth $ 1.5 million (5.511 million dirhams) for each winning project distributed over three years, at a maximum of 550 thousand dollars annually.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al -Mandous, Director General of the National Meteorological Center, President of the World Meteorological Organization, said that the UAE continues through the National Meteorological Center its pioneering efforts in supporting the research research, in line with the vision of the wise leadership in facing the challenges of water scarcity and enhancing climate work, as the initial proposals that were chosen for the next stage reflect the level of scientific excellence that the Emirates program for rain research seeks to achieve within its commitment to support Research capable of creating a real impact in promoting water resources, noting that the center contributes through supporting promising projects and enhancing international cooperation, to developing sustainable solutions that establish the UAE’s position as a global center in rain science research.
Alia Al Mazrouei, Director of the Emirates for Intelligence Research, said that the candidate research proposals for the next stage were characterized by its high quality and its alignment with the strategic research priorities of the program, noting that the discussions of the committee that spanned a whole month highlighted the importance of the research solutions provided by a high degree of scientific excellence, and that it has technical feasibility and the ability to apply on a large scale, in a way that enhances international efforts Aimed at achieving water security.
She expressed her aspiration to turn these ideas and proposals into realistic projects with a tangible impact, which contributes to strengthening the role of the UAE in addressing the challenges of water security through advanced scientific research.
The National Meteorological Center had received 140 innovative research proposals, with an increase rate of 47 % compared to the fifth session within the stage of submitting the preliminary proposals for the sixth session, and this session witnessed the participation of 96 research teams and 44 independent researchers from 48 countries across five continents.
The owners of the research proposals that have not qualified for the next stage will be informed of a detailed evaluation by the International Technical Review Committee to encourage them to develop and submit them again in the upcoming sessions.
The sixth session of the program attracted a wide participation from many universities and pioneering research centers at the level of the UAE and the world, including the University of California (Irvin and Los Angeles), Columbia University, University of Princeton, University of Victoria, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Stockholm University, University of Kyoto, Tsinghua University, Polytechnic University in Milan, Khalifa University, Mohammed bin Zayed University of AI, and the American University of Sharjah, and Global Airbis Logisx.
This stage also witnessed a wide participation of government agencies active in meteorology and weather amendment research, including the National Center for Air Cover Research, the weather modification center of the Chinese Meteorological Administration, the National Institute for Meteorological Sciences in the Republic of Korea, the National Laboratory of Brockhavin, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Kenyan Meteorological Administration.
It is worth noting that the UAE for rain science research program has announced the opening of the reception of research proposals within its sixth session devoted to innovative research projects in the field of rain science and techniques on the sidelines of the seventh international forum for rain that was held during the period 28 to 30 January 2025, and this session is based on the new vision of the program, which is to consolidate its position as a pioneering global model in research, development, review and publishing technologies The rain and the implementation of its operations to enhance water security in the United Arab Emirates and the world.
