"Sharjah Antiquities" She concludes her exhibition in Rome by attracting more than 600,000 visitors

Sharjah, May 28 / WAM / The Sharjah Antiquities Agency concluded the activities of its international archaeological exhibition under the title “From Sharjah to Rome through the Road of Spices”, which was hosted by the “Korea Yulia” building at the headquarters of the historic Roman Senate located within the College Park in the Italian capital, Rome, during the period from February to May this May, accumulating more than 600 thousand visitors from all over the world.

The exhibition came to embody the depth of historical relations between Sharjah and the Roman world, highlighting the vital role played by sites such as Maliha and Dibba Al -Hosn on the Silk Road, especially the spices trade that linked the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean.

Within the accompanying activities, the Sharjah Antiquities Authority produced an interactive documentary film that simulates the movement of trade and cultural exchange between Rome, Maliha and Dibba Al -Hosn during the Roman period. The film won the admiration of the public and historians because of its accurate visual visualization of economic life, marine crossings and civilizational interaction between the two sides.

His Excellency Issa Youssef, Director General of the Sharjah Antiquities Authority, said that this exhibition succeeded in re -introducing Sharjah from a new global perspective, as the number of visitors exceeded 600 thousand visitors in just three months, which reflects the extent of the interest received by the archaeological heritage of the emirate.

He stressed that this participation embodies an extension of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in establishing the cultural status of the emirate and promoting civilized dialogue and openness to the world, in light of the continuous support provided by His Highness to the cultural sector, which was the cornerstone of achieving this international success.

The exhibition witnessed the organization of a specialized scientific lecture that brought together a group of researchers from the Emirati and Italian sides that dealt with cultural communication between Sharjah and the Mediterranean world with a focus on modern technologies in preserving and studying archaeological sites.

Besides, official meetings were held between the Sharjah Antiquities Authority and the cholesterium, during which experiences were exchanged and the foundations of long -term cooperation were laid in the fields of research, exhibitions and training.

The exhibition included more than 110 rare artifacts from prominent sites in the Emirate of Sharjah, which were presented in its display techniques of augmented reality and 3D display to provide a unique educational and interactive experience for visitors and enhance their understanding of the history of Sharjah and its cultural heritage.
