The Emirates and France are looking to enhance cooperation in the fields of hydrogen and nuclear energy

Paris, May 29/ WAM/ An Emirati delegation discussed during an official visit to the French Republic, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, and exchange best practices with a group of French governmental and private agencies, with the aim of exploring innovative solutions to face the challenges of transformation in the energy sector.
The visit, which concluded yesterday and lasted for three days, comes within the framework of the UAE’s efforts to expand the horizons of international partnership, support the process of sustainable development, and enhance energy security.
Discussions focused on several strategic axes, including sustainable fuel for aviation “SAF”, hydrogen, advanced nuclear technologies, and carbon emissions strategies.
The delegation was chaired by His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al -Alami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, and included His Excellency Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al Hawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Investment, as well as representatives of a number of leading national bodies, including Emirates Airlines, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Environment, Source, Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, and the Federal Nuclear Control Authority, and the company “Amuk”, and a house for biofuels.
His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al -Ulama stressed that the relations between the Emirates and France are based on firm foundations of partnership and cooperation in the fields of innovation and energy.
He said that the UAE shares a firm commitment to sustainable progress, a passion for innovation, and in preparation for adopting future trends.
The visit aimed to strengthen the UAE’s efforts to shift towards clean energy by exchanging experiences, expanding bilateral cooperation, and providing the members of the delegation with a process of a process that contributes to achieving the goals of national sustainability.
His Excellency thanked all the French officials and representatives of the private sector for the hospitality and generosity they showed, pointing to his aspiration to translate the results of this fruitful visit into joint projects that contribute to building sustainable energy systems, and accelerating the shift towards clean energy, to ensure a better future for future generations.
The delegation started the visit schedule in the capital, Paris, with a closed meeting at the headquarters of the “Medef International” network, in the presence of representatives of major French companies, led by Mr. Ludovic Boyy, Director of Economic Diplomacy in the Ministry of Europe and French Foreign Affairs.
The meeting witnessed the discussion of ways to expand joint projects, exchange visions about national hydrogen strategies for both countries, in addition to technical offers presented by leading French companies such as: “HY24, Edf Renouvelbles, Axens, Engie, Technip Energies, Fivees Group, and Dassault Systèmes”.
The nuclear energy sector was also discussed, where the delegation received an expanded briefing on the nuclear value chain in France, the management of nuclear fuel, and the challenges of normative small reactors “SMRS”, with the participation of experts from prominent institutions such as: CSFN, Orano, CEA, Nuard “” NewCleo “and” Naarea “.
During the meeting, His Excellency Scientists stressed that strategic cooperation in the fields of energy is a basic pillar of the Emirati -French partnership, stressing the importance of uniting efforts to reach the goals of reducing emissions and enhancing energy security.
On the second day, the delegation visited a number of advanced facilities in Paris, which included the innovation center of the “Schneider Electric” company, where he was briefed on the solutions of the smart company based on artificial intelligence in the field of energy management, in addition to visiting the search and development laboratories of “Air Likid”, which specializes in gases and industrial and medical technologies.
The delegation also got acquainted with the French policies to organize and encourage the use of sustainable fuel for aviation, during a meeting with a representative of the French Civil Aviation Authority, while one of the members of the Emirati delegation reviewed the national strategy in this field, and its role in reducing carbon emissions for the aviation sector.
The second day also witnessed a fruitful dialogue that gathered the Emirati delegation with a number of officials of the major French companies, such as: Airbus, Total Energy, Safran, Peru Feritas and Huffler Energy, where the commitment of the two sides to sustainability was reviewed and the prospects for future cooperation were expanded.
The delegation moved on the third and last day, to the city of Toulouse, where it visited the first models center of “Airbus” and the final assembly line of the “A350” plane, one of the latest production lines in the aviation sector. The delegation also met a number of Emirati students trained with the company.
The visit reflects the strength of relations between the UAE and France, which witnessed a qualitative shift during the past years, as the UAE is one of the most prominent commercial partners of France in the Arab region.
