Global Health calls for a ban on tobacco and nicotine flavors for youth protection

The World Health Organization has called on governments to ban all flavors in tobacco and nicotine products, including cigarettes, hookahs, nicotine bags, and electronic cigarettes, as part of their efforts to protect youth from addiction and smoking -related diseases.
In a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Tobacco, which falls on May 31 of each year, the organization stated that flavors such as menthol, gum, and spinning girls hide the harsh taste of products and make them more attractive to teenagers, which makes them difficult to quit smoking and increase the risk of developing serious pulmonary diseases.
She pointed out that more than 50 countries banned flavored tobacco, while more than 40 countries have banned the sale of electronic cigarettes, with additional restrictions in a number of countries on one -use flavors and cigarettes, while flavors accessories are still outside the scope of control in many places.
The organization emphasized that attractive packaging and marketing via social media also contribute to attracting young people to these harmful and addiction products, which contain carcinogenic chemicals, and cause about 8 million deaths annually around the world.
