Gaza – The Arab Group demands the Security Council to move to raise restrictions on relief and end the war

It is noteworthy that Israel has imposed a near -complete closure on the Gaza Strip for more than 80 days, during which there was little assistance and supplies.

In press statements outside the Security Council Hall, the President of the Arab Group spoke during May, Ambassador Mohamed Abu Shehab, the permanent representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations, and the Arab delegates and the representative of the League of Arab States stood around him.

Abu Shihab referred to the Security Council meeting on Wednesday on the Middle East, and said that the Arab group is united in its position, and urgently demands that all restrictions imposed on humanitarian aid, and distribute them based on humanitarian principles.

He added: “The council cannot stand still, while starvation is used as a weapon of war. The Arab group categorically rejects the proposed aid mechanism from Israel, which violates basic humanitarian principles and international law. At the same time, we renew the emphasis on our request for immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire, immediate release and without conditions for all hostages and the release of detainees.”

A new draft resolution

Abu Shihab stressed the need for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take a decisive action, including the adoption of a draft resolution on Gaza, which is currently preparing the ten member states that are not permanently membership in the council.

With the aspiration to hold a high -level conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the application of the two -state solution, headed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, he stressed the need for member states to take decisive measures to promote permanent peace.

Muhammad Abu Shihab praised the countries that recognized the state of Palestine, and encouraged the force of other countries to do the same. He said that recognition of the State of Palestine is not just a symbolic gesture, but it is “a tangible step towards a fair and permanent peace.”

He added that the time of half -solutions has passed, and the Security Council must fulfill its responsibilities to preserve international peace and security and protect civilians.
