Sharjah, May 5 / WAM / The Sharjah Fund for the Publishing of Publishing (Anchor) celebrated yesterday in the presence of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of the Sharjah Book Authority at the Authority’s headquarters by graduating the first batch of participants in the “Growth Path” for 2025, one of the paths of the publishing fund that aims to support publishers working in the UAE and enable them to expand and sustainable growth where the ceremony witnessed the honoring of 12 publishing houses that completed the training program The condensed successfully, based on the directives of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi. Graduates of the “Growth Path” have a comprehensive support package after graduation that include accounting services for a year and help in obtaining the Sharjah International Grant for Translation and joining an Ingram platform for global distribution in addition to access to contracts based on contracts and specialized consulting sessions and priority of participation in the future “publish” programs in a way that enhances their transition from stability Working to sustainable strategic expansion.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, and His Excellency Rashid Al -Kous, Executive Director of the UAE Publishers Association, as well as a number of program partners, experts, trainers and representatives of local and Arab media.
Participating publishing houses were chosen from among the 62 applicants who fulfilled the criteria for joining the “growth path”, foremost of which has a qualitative experience in issuing distinguished cultural content and the ability to adopt studied expansion strategies that keep pace with the transformations of the publishing industry and contribute to the consolidation of its sustainable presence locally and internationally.
The list of graduates included “Ajyal Publishing”, “GAF Publications”, “Sidra Publishing and Distribution”, “Pearls for Publishing and Distribution”, “Capeenn for Publishing and Distribution”, “Nabati Publishing”, “Shaheen for Printing, Publishing and Distribution”, “Dar Al -Farqad Publishing”, “Dar Shams Publishing”, “Dar Al -Fikr Al -Jadeed”, “Dar Al -Bayan Al -Arabi” and “Nour for Publishing”.
And Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi stressed that the program represents a practical step towards supporting the participating publishers and developing their capabilities in a way that enables them to grow and expand innovative and sustainable foundations that embody the path (growth) our vision to enable publishers to think that goes beyond survival and confidently towards excellence, creativity and initiative to enrich the Arab publishing sector locally and globally.
She added: It is very proud of this batch, which has proven its ability to learn, develop and open up to new experiences, and I believe that today they carry tools and knowledge that will help them build more flexible and sustainable business models, just as they represent the present Arab publication as well, they are able to form the features of his future on the global scene with their ambition, insistence and real passion for making the book.
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri said that what distinguishes these publishers is their serious desire to expand and their willingness to adopt new tools and concepts that push their business forward and that the affiliation of this elite of publishers of the path of growth within the (publisher) fund represents a drawing of a map of expansion of the publishing sector in the region in a way that is based on innovation and sustainability based on the belief of Sheikha in the role of Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Authority Building a network of publishers who are able to compete regionally and globally to create a renewed start for the Arabic book and Arab culture.
For his part, Rashid Al -Kous congratulated the graduates of the “Path of Growth”, praising their insistence on converting ambition into practical steps that can be implemented, indicating that this group of publishers showed on the ground the meaning of converting ambition into realistic work as programs such as (the path of growth) succeeded in providing the participants with skills besides that they were within the ability to compete in the local and global markets within a changing and rapid spread environment.
Iman bin Shaybah, Director of the Department of Strategic Initiatives and Global Markets at the Sharjah Book Authority, confirmed that the “Ashb” fund redefines the meaning of support in the publishing sector, as it was not only a vision, but also provided an integrated strategic structure that gives publishers tools, knowledge and opportunities to move from the foundation stage to the prospects To upgrade the level of competencies and operational capabilities of publishers.
