Sharjah, June 6, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, witnessed today the graduation of bachelor’s degree students in the medical colleges and health sciences at the University of Sharjah, Spring 2026 batch, numbering 737 male and female graduates, in the University City Hall.
The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by the recitation of clear verses from the Holy Quran. Dr. Essam Al-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah, gave a speech in which he stressed that the profession of medicine and health sciences are not merely academic specializations, but rather a humanitarian message aimed at alleviating pain and preserving human life, drawing inspiration from the legacy of the Muslim scholar Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi, who devoted his knowledge to serving humanity, pointing out that progress in the medical and health fields is not achieved by knowledge alone, but by human alertness and the ability to transform science into a tangible impact on people’s lives. Ajami explained that the establishment of the Medical Colleges Complex at the University of Sharjah was an embodiment of the vision of the university’s founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who believed in the importance of preparing qualified medical and health personnel in the emirate to serve the community and the region, a vision that His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi continues to support and develop, adding that the graduates today represent the true fruit of this academic and humanitarian project, and the bearers of its message into the future.
The Director of the University of Sharjah pointed to the advanced academic standing achieved by the university at the global level, indicating that the specialty of dentistry was ranked among the top 150 universities in the world, while pharmacy and pharmacology were ranked among the top 200 universities in the world according to the “QS” classification of specializations for the year 2026, stressing that these results reflect the quality of education and training that students received, and reinforce their responsibility in maintaining this position through professional and ethical excellence in their professional career.
Ajami stressed that the concept of modern health is based on integration between various health specializations, pointing out that effective health care does not depend on the doctor alone, but rather involves an integrated system that includes nursing, medical laboratories, physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, nutrition, healthy environment, and health management, adding that each of these specializations plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of life and enhancing the health of individuals and communities, in line with the university’s vision of preparing cadres capable of making a positive and sustainable impact.
The Director of the University of Sharjah concluded his speech by thanking and appreciating the families of the graduates for the support they provided throughout the years of study, praising the efforts of the members of the academic and administrative bodies in the health and medical colleges, calling on the graduates to adhere to professional and humanitarian values, to continue learning and developing, and to maintain compassion and humility in practicing their work, stressing that true success in the health professions is measured by the impact they leave on people’s lives and their ability to serve humanity.
Graduate Aryam Khamis Al-Naqbi delivered a speech at the medical colleges, in which she expressed her and her colleagues’ great happiness in reaching this moment that culminated in years of diligence and perseverance, stressing that the study journey was not easy, but it was worthy of all the effort and sacrifices made in it, noting that the graduates not only acquired scientific knowledge, but their personalities were formed and their professional and humanitarian values were strengthened, so that they left their studies carrying knowledge as a trust and man as a goal and a mission.

The number of bachelor’s degree graduates in the colleges of medicine and health sciences reached 737 male and female graduates, with 155 male and female graduates graduating from the College of Medicine, 101 male and female graduates from the College of Dentistry, 107 male and female graduates from the College of Pharmacy, and 374 male and female graduates from the Colleges of Health Sciences.
