Prince Harry discusses with his uncle the change of his royal title in the interest of his mother’s family

The American magazine “People” revealed that Prince Harry discussed with his uncle, Charles Spencer, the idea of adopting the name of his mother’s family, Princess Diana, instead of the title of his current royal family Mongbatten – Windsor, where Harry studied this option seriously, although he means giving up the family name that his two children, Prince Archi and Princess Lilibet.
Informed sources reported that Prince Harry (40 years old), discussed the issue during a rare visit to the United Kingdom, as he spoke with his ninth Earl Spencer, about the consequences of this step, but he was met with complex legal warnings.
A friend close to Harry confirmed that the conversation was friendly, but Spencer advised him not to move forward. No official comment was issued by a spokesman for the “Duke of Sussex”, or from Charles Spencer about the matter.
Prince Harry and his wife, Megan, have two children: Archi (six years) and Welted (four years). The two children hold the title “Montbatten – Windsor” in their birth documents, but the family actually uses the title of Sussex in daily life, which Megan recently talked about, stressing that the name carries a deep family meaning after the birth of her two children.
Megan said in an interview with “People”: “(Sussex) is our common name as a family, and it means a lot to me after having children,” Megan said in an interview with People.
The title “Montbatten – Windsor” is due to Prince Philip, the late husband of Queen Elizabeth II, who adopted him after he became a British citizen in 1947. In 1960, it was decided that this title would be granted to the grandchildren of the Queen and Prince Philip from the male when needed.
The abandonment of this title in the interest of the name “Spencer” would have been seen as a potential insult to King Charles III, who bears a great appreciation for the name “Maongbatten”, as his father was doing. These developments come in light of the continued tension between Harry and his father, as no indications have yet appeared on imminent reconciliation.
Among the most prominent causes of tension between Prince Harry and the royal family, the issue of security protection that he and his wife lost after leaving the royal tasks in 2020. In a previous interview with the BBC, Harry said he could not imagine a return to the United Kingdom with his family without appropriate security guarantees.
Although members of the British royal family do not use family titles on a daily basis, it is customary within the family to call on children to follow their parents. Harry and William were known during their childhood and in the army as the names of “Harry Wales” and “William Wales”, referring to the title of their former father as Prince Lalels.
Since King Charles assumed the throne in September 2022, Archchi and Welted have been granted the official royal titles, and their names have been updated on the official website of the royal family to “Prince Archi Prince of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet Princess Sussex”. As for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they got their current titles from Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day in 2018. About “People”
