Sandooq Al Watan celebrates the values of communication and family compassion

Yesterday, Sandooq Al Watan organized the first community session entitled “Ramadan Evenings – Mir Ramadan… A Story of Communication,” from its series of Ramadan councils throughout this holy month, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Directors.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan directed the establishment of councils to revive our authentic Emirati customs and traditions, within the framework of initiatives aimed at reviving the authentic customs and traditions of Emirati society, and enhancing the values of family communication and compassion between different generations during the holy month. The session witnessed the attendance of 40 Emirati families, including children, youth, parents and grandparents, exceeding the expected number, in a scene that reflects the community’s interest in reviving Ramadan gatherings as a platform for meetings and dialogue between family members, and for rebuilding bridges between generations in an atmosphere of familiarity and love. The session discussed the topic of “Meer Ramadan”, which represents one of the ancient Emirati legacies associated with welcoming the holy month. During the session, the historical background of this concept was reviewed, as it is the Ramadan supplies that Emirati families were keen to prepare in the days preceding the advent of the blessed month. This preparation included preparing basic food supplies, storing what the family needed, and securing the necessary household items, which reflects a state of material and moral readiness to welcome the holy month.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that Sandooq Al Watan’s launch of these Ramadan councils comes as an embodiment of the established customs and traditions of Emirati society, and a practical translation of our Islamic identity, which is based on human communication and social solidarity. He added that preserving these values is not a seasonal option, but rather a consistent approach established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, and who made it a pillar for building society in the United Arab Emirates, stressing that this approach is embodied today in the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, who always affirms that the strength of the nation lies in the cohesion of its society, and that giving and compassion are solid values that reflect the spirit of the Emirates and its humanitarian mission.
Participants in the Ramadan Council activities discussed “Meer Ramadan” as a social tradition that reflects the values of cooperation, solidarity, and sharing among members of society. Neighbors and relatives would exchange some of these supplies, in practical practice of the values of mercy that characterize the holy month. This inheritance contributed to strengthening neighborly ties and instilling the concepts of generosity and family ties in the souls of the children, so that the garden became a symbol of moral values rather than a material equipment.
The session also focused on the importance of enhancing dialogue between family members, and reviving the culture of dialogue and exchange of conversation, especially in light of the transformations imposed by modern technology.
She highlighted the role of the family in finding a healthy balance between the positive use of digital technologies and maintaining realistic communication, while the interventions emphasized that education based on role models, constructive dialogue, and respect for the elderly represents a safety valve for the continuation of the values and cohesion of Emirati society.
The discussion addressed the pivotal role of senior citizens within the family, as they are the true wealth of knowledge and experience, and a reference for transmitting social and value heritage to rising generations.
