Amna Al -Dahhak: The UAE puts food safety at the top of its priorities

Abu Dhabi, June 6 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, confirmed that the UAE puts food safety at the top of its priorities within the system of promoting sustainable national food security, as it is an essential component in supporting the stability of food supply chains.

Her Excellency, in a statement on the occasion of the International Food Safety Day 2025, indicated that the ministry is working continuously to develop an integrated legislative and regulatory frameworks based on scientific foundations, and in line with international best practices in this field.

She said that the International Food Safety Day is held this year under the slogan “Food Safety- Science and Foundations of Decisions”, which highlights science as a basis for making sound decisions that guarantee food safety, protect society and ensure its well-being in a world witnessing accelerating changes and increasing nutritional challenges.

She continued: “We believe that food safety is a national responsibility and a strategic priority. The UAE has developed a flexible and modern legislative system, supported by an advanced digital structure, and an effective institutional integration between the regulatory authorities and the governmental and private sectors. We continue to work to enhance our supervisory capabilities and modernize the mechanisms Society in the national food system. “

She pointed out that the increasing challenges associated with food require cooperation and coordination between all concerned parties at the local and global levels, to share best practices and regulatory standards to ensure the highest levels of food safety, stressing that the UAE is open to partnerships and initiatives that contribute to achieving global integration in food safety systems, and shares their experiences with countries of the world out of their international responsibility.

Her Excellency said that the UAE is committed to continuing to invest in knowledge, legislation and innovation to enhance food safety, in order to support the UAE’s vision for a healthy, safe and food future.
