Calls in Germany to re -impose compulsory recruitment in the army

The head of the German Army Association, André Fustenner, called for the re -imposition of compulsory recruitment to face the new defensive requirements of NATO, which requires the addition of up to 60,000 active soldiers to the strength of the German army.

In an interview with “Deutschende Fonk” reported by the German News Agency today, Fustner expressed his doubts about the possibility of achieving this huge goal through volunteering alone, calling on the government coalition to pave the way for a possible return to recruitment.

The German Defense Minister, Boris Pisorius, confirmed the army’s need for this additional number of forces.

The Secretary -General of NATO, Mark Rawah, stressed that “the alliance needs more forces and capabilities to implement its entire defense plans,” defining priorities represented in air and missile defense, long -range weapons, and large units of the ground forces.
