Dubai hosts more than 350 companies operating in the field of electronic games
Dubai, June 9/ WAM/ A study prepared by the Dubai Electronic Games Program 2033, which is supervised by the Dubai Future Foundation, indicated that Dubai currently hosts more than 350 companies active in various fields related to the electronic games sector whose market value is estimated at about 200 billion dollars globally.
These companies include 260 companies specialized in developing electronic games, or 74% of the total companies active in this sector in Dubai, and the headquarters of 67% of these companies are in Dubai, and major international technological companies constitute 12% of these companies.
More than 60 companies have been established in the field of electronic games in Dubai since the launch of the “Dubai Electronic Games Program” in November 2023, which is an increase of 16.6%, which reflects the growing importance of Dubai’s position on the global map of this promising and important economic sector.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Foundation for the future, launched the “Dubai Electronic Games Program” in November 2023 to be Dubai among the top ten global centers for the electronic games sector during the next ten years, and to provide up to 30 thousand new jobs related to this sector, in addition to enhancing its contribution to the growth of the digital economy and the GDP of the Emirate of Dubai for about one billion Dollars by 2033.
His Excellency Khalfan Jumaa Balhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, stressed that these achievements that have been made in the electronic games sector in Dubai during the recent period embody the success of Dubai’s vision of its future economy, which is based on economic diversification, and investing all opportunities in various fields of current and future economic development.
He added that the electronic games sector in Dubai has become one of the most promising economic fields, and is considered a lot of unprecedented opportunities, thanks to the system in support of owners of projects and specific ideas in the advanced technology sectors, foremost of which is the electronic game industry, which is a basic engine to enhance competitiveness and support the achievement of the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33”.
The Dubai Electronic Games Program 2033 focuses on supporting talent and enhancing the employment of technological progress, developing digital content, providing training opportunities and working in partnership with many international companies, universities and academic institutions, supporting entrepreneurs and innovative ideas, and launching specialized educational and training programs in various fields and applications of electronic games.
The programs include various initiatives, local and international events, and provides opportunities for partnership and cooperation at the level of individuals, companies and organizational bodies in Dubai, the region and the world.
