The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the provision of more than 10 thousand air -conditioned breaks equipped with amenities for the purpose of their use by delivery services workers in all regions of the country during the period of implementation of the “Labor Prohibition at noon” from June 15 to September 15, in cooperation with the relevant government agencies and the private sector.

The ministry pointed to the importance of this initiative, especially since the delivery services sector is one of the vital logistical sectors that are characterized by a special nature of work, as workers are not present in a fixed location during the period of the “prohibition of work at noon”, in addition to the nature of some materials that require connection quickly and accurately, and delivery workers can reach the nearest break through the interactive maps available through applications.
This initiative comes as an extension of the efforts of last year, which witnessed the provision of 6 thousand air -conditioned restaurants for delivery workers, as its scope was greatly expanded this year, which confirms the effectiveness of such an initiative in protecting this group of workers from the risks of heat stress during the summer and high temperatures, especially in the ban period from 12:30 pm to 3 pm.
The “prohibition of work at noon” is required for employers to provide shaded places suitable for workers ’rest, while providing them with cooling means, cold drinking water in proportion to the number of workers, and the shadow approved tools from local authorities, in addition to first aid in work sites.
