Luxury hospitality raises the food bill on Emirates Airlines flights

The cost of meals and drinks, which Emirates Airlines provided for its passengers on flights, increased to about four billion and 746 million dirhams, during the fiscal year 2024-2025, which ended last March, compared to about four billion dirhams during the previous year, with a growth rate of about 18.5%.

According to the group’s annual report data, which the Emirates Today viewed a copy of, the cost of food and drink acquired about 4.6% of the total operational expenditures of the tanker during the fiscal year, while fuel constitutes the largest part of it.

The group’s financial report stated that the cost of food services on Emirates Airlines, increased as a result of the increase in the number of passengers of distinctive travel, and the provision of improved offers on the plane, and the high cost of meals provided.

The increase in the cost of food and drinks is due to the increase in the number of passengers of the company, as Emirates Airlines transported 53.7 million passengers in the fiscal year 2024-2025, with a growth rate of 3%.

According to data dating back to February last year, Emirates Airlines, the largest international tanker in the world, said that it offers more than 77 million meals annually to customers on its flights, i.e. its travelers offer 149 meals every minute, and more than 215 thousand meals per day, and the preparation of these meals requires the efforts of 1400 specialized chefs, in the Emirates Aircraft Supply, the modern Emirates Airlines in Dubai, and through the catering companies approved around the world.

The carrier explained that, within one year, its clients took a wide range of meals of lists of 2,200 various recipes every month.

By March 31, 2025, the carrier was running its flights to 148 cities in 80 countries and region. It also strengthened its partnership network to reach 33 symbol exchange agreements, and 118 “Interlin Agreements”, which provided its clients smoothly to more than 1750 destinations outside its direct network, and at the end of March 2025, the total number of aircraft in the Emirates Airlines fleet reached 260, with an average age of 10.7 years.

• The cost of food services increased as a result of the increase in the number of passengers of the distinctive travel scores, the presentation of improved offers on the plane, and the high cost of meals.
