His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, stressed that the wise leadership in Dubai’s industrial sector pays great attention, because of its role as a basic pillar to diversify the economy and enhance sustainable development, with the contribution of this vital sector in increasing export capacity, creating more job opportunities, and localization of knowledge, pointing to His Highness to target the Dubai Economic Agency «D33» to raise the added value of the sector Industry with a focus on encouraging green and sustainable industries.
This came during a visit yesterday, to the Al -Baraka Dates Factory in Dubai Industrial City, affiliated to the “Tikom” group, which is the largest dates factory in the world owned by the private sector, and the first dates factory in the world to be operated using solar energy, and His Highness was received by the Chairman of the Board of “Tamr al -Baraka”, Salim Mohamed, and the General Manager, Youssef Selim.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the role of the private sector as a major partner in developing the industrial capabilities of Dubai, stressing the emirate’s keenness to provide all stimuli and facilities that attract investment in this sector, while continuing to work to develop infrastructure and logistical capabilities that Dubai has long granted preferential advantages a leading global destination for investment and trade.
His Highness said in a post on the X platform yesterday: “Today I lost an aspect of operations at the Al -Baraka Dates Factory in Dubai Industrial City, which is affiliated with the Tikom Group, which is the largest factory owned by the private sector globally, and the first of its kind is completely operated using solar energy.”
His Highness added: “The factory products are exported from Dubai to more than 90 countries around the world, led by the United States, Britain and European Union countries.”
His Highness continued: “We are committed to supporting the development of the capabilities of the industrial sector to contribute to achieving the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) with the adoption of the latest environmental sustainability practices and the employment of renewable energy in operational operations.”
His Highness listened during the tour, in which he was accompanied by the Director General of the Dubai Authority for Development and CEO of the “Ticom” group, Malik Al Malik, and the Assistant Secretary -General of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Initiatives” Foundation, Saeed Al -Atar, and the executive deputy head of the “Tecom” group – the industrial sector, Saud Abu Al -Shawarb, to an explanation presented by the Director General of the “Tamr al -Baraka” company, Youssef Salim, about the production lines, and what it provides Various dates products and their derivatives, and the various stages of expansion that the company’s factory has gone through, which dates back to 1988, to what it is today as the largest factory in the world owned by the private sector to produce dates, as it extends over an area of up to 800 thousand square feet in Dubai Industrial City.
The explanation included a review of the great production capacity of the factory that reaches 100 thousand tons annually, and the impact of the strategic location of the factory near the port of Jebel Ali and Al Maktoum International Airport, which gives it an advantage that enhances the access of its products to many global markets, where the factory exports about 7,000 containers of dates and its products annually through the port of Jebel Ali for more than 90 countries around the world, led by the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Union countries.
During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the charitable contributions of the “Tamr al -Baraka” company and the support it provides for the initiatives, projects and charitable and humanitarian institutions, in the forefront And activate its positive impact on societies.
In addition, His Highness reviewed the strategy of the Al -Baraka Factory for Dates to employ clean energy sources in its various operational operations, through dependence on solar energy, where the factory was provided with more than 6500 solar panels, which contributes to reducing carbon emissions by 3000 tons annually, in confirmation to keep pace with the Dubai and the UAE approach to converting to alternatives that allow reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and care To provide a model to be followed in awareness and environmental preservation within the industrial field.
