Salah El-Din: “Sustainability” combines accumulated experiences and youthful energies that carry the spirit of initiative

Mr. Yousef Salah Al-Din, candidate for the Sustainability Bloc of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the bloc is proud to be headed by Mr. Nabil Khaled Kanoo, due to his long history and accumulated work experience, in addition to his belonging to an ancient commercial family that has and continues to make a prominent contribution to supporting the economic movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He explained that Mr. Nabil Khaled Kanoo’s career in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry was long, considering the Chamber and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Company a professional school that refined his experiences and contributed to building his economic vision.
He stressed that the Estidama bloc combines the accumulated experiences of members who have previously worked and given, and new youth energies carrying the spirit of initiative and renewal, in a way that achieves the equation of sustainability and development at the same time, and enhances the bloc’s ability to keep pace with the requirements of the next stage.
He pointed out that the representation of the bloc includes various sectors, with a clear presence of representatives of small, medium and micro enterprises, based on its belief in the importance of conveying the voice of merchants of all categories to the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as to government agencies, in a way that contributes to developing the business environment and achieving the interests of the private sector.
Regarding the representation of women, he stressed that their presence within the Chamber has become a fundamental pillar in the economic scene, as their membership rate amounts to about 42.5% of the total membership, which reflects the depth of their participation in commercial and investment activity. He considered that this presence is the result of a continuous process of support and empowerment, which contributed to Bahraini women reaching leadership positions in various sectors, to be an active partner in advancing sustainable development and enhancing the status of the national economy, based on the institutional support embodied by the Supreme Council for Women, and the pivotal role played by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the country’s great king and President of the Supreme Council for Women, in leading this national edifice.
He added that this diversity within the bloc, whether in terms of expertise or the groups represented, reflects a deep understanding of market needs, and enhances the bloc’s ability to put forward practical initiatives that respond to economic challenges and support the growth process, through an effective partnership between the private sector and concerned parties.
He touched on the history of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressing that it is considered one of the most ancient economic institutions in the region, as it was established in 1910 and was officially established in 1939. It has contributed over decades to organizing commercial work and defending the interests of merchants, in addition to its role in supporting economic legislation and enhancing the business environment, which made it a major partner in the process of economic development in the Kingdom.
He added that the Chamber has a long democratic record that is considered one of the oldest in the region, and that this institutional legacy has been and continues to be sponsored and supported by the country’s leadership, starting with His Majesty the King, and extending under the direct patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect them both, which reinforces the importance of preserving and consolidating this approach in keeping with the requirements of this stage.
He concluded by emphasizing the great appreciation for the continuous support that the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has received from the leadership since its inception, which support has contributed to consolidating the role of the Chamber as an essential partner in economic development, and strengthening its position as a comprehensive umbrella for the commercial sector in the Kingdom.
