Japanese exports declined last May

Tokyo on June 18 / WAM / Japanese exports fell last May for the first time in 8 months.
The value of Japanese exports in May decreased by 1.7%on an annual basis to 8.1 trillion yen “about 55.9 billion US dollars”, a lower decline than expectations that indicated a decrease of 3.8%, after an increase of 2%.
Japanese exports to the United States last May registered a decrease of 11.1% compared to last year, affected by a decrease of 24.7% in car exports, and a 19% decrease in car components, while the increase in the yen contributed to reducing the total value of shipments, and exports to China decreased by 8.8%.
