The owner of the American club San Diego FC, the Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour, confirmed that the star Mohamed Salah represents a “valuable addition” to any team, in light of mounting speculation about his next destination after announcing his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.
Mansour said, in statements to Agence France-Presse on the sidelines of the “Football Business” summit in Atlanta, that Salah is considered “one of the greatest players at the present time,” stressing that any club that succeeds in contracting with him will reap great artistic gains.
It is noteworthy that Mohamed Mansour is an Egyptian-British billionaire, whose fortune exceeds $3 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
Mansour expressed his great pride in Salah, saying: “He is a source of pride for every Egyptian, after he succeeded in establishing himself as one of the most prominent football stars in the world.”
He added: “Whatever his next destination is, he will make a big impact on the league and the team he joins.”
Despite the great praise, Mansour avoided revealing the existence of official moves by his club to sign the player, stressing that contracting decisions rest with the technical management.
Mansour touched on the philosophy of the San Diego club, stressing that success is based on teamwork and not on one star, despite his recognition of the value of great players.
He pointed out that the club, which recently joined the American League, succeeded in achieving a strong start, achieving remarkable numbers in its first season.
He concluded by saying: “Football is primarily a team game, and this is what we believe in our project.”
