Dubai Municipality emphasizes the importance of hydrographic survey in support of infrastructure

Dubai, June 23 / WAM / Dubai Municipality, in conjunction with the International Hydrographic Survey Day, organized the effectiveness of “enhancing safety, efficiency and sustainability in marine activities”, with the aim of highlighting the importance of hydrographic survey in supporting infrastructure and its leading efforts in the production of navigational maps and enhancing the sustainability of marine resources in a way that supports the achievement of sustainable development.
This event is an affirmation of the efforts of the Dubai Municipality as a member of the IHO in developing the hydrographic survey system and its role in promoting navigational safety and achieving optimal and sustainable use of seas in an integration of sustainable development goals, in addition to the municipality’s targets in employing innovation to achieve the best urban planning system and its endeavors to achieve leadership and international competitiveness in the field of services Hydrographic.
Dubai Municipality has highlighted its efforts in providing detailed data that enhances maritime survey services from the production and modernization of navigation maps in Dubai and improve the safety of maritime navigation and environmental protection.
It also presented the latest programs and technologies used and the best practices they follow in implementing marine projects as well as supporting urban development plans for coastal areas and exploiting marine wealth.
Dubai Municipality works with interest to achieve integration with the strategic plan of the international hydrographic organization in terms of participation in international activities and initiatives related to knowledge and sustainable use of seas and oceans and increased use of hydrographic data for the benefit of society.
It is noteworthy that the Dubai Municipality won the membership of the International Hydrographic Organization in February 2023 as the first government agency in the UAE and the Middle East to obtain this accreditation, which strengthened its position as one of the internationally approved marine survey institutions, especially as it is the first government department in the country that provides global services for navigational maps to enhance marine safety in the coastal waters of the Emirate of Dubai.
