Shakhbout bin Nahyan participates in "Conference for Sudan" In Berlin
Berlin, April 16 / WAM / His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the Third International Conference for Sudan, in the German capital, Berlin, which was organized by the Federal Republic of Germany, the European Union, the French Republic, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the African Union.
This conference reflects the continued international momentum to support Sudan, following the Paris 2024 and London 2025 conferences, within the framework of joint efforts to enhance security and stability and support the civilian-led political path.
In the midst of an ongoing conflict whose consequences are being borne by civilians, the conference, which coincides with the third anniversary of the outbreak of war in Sudan, aims to strengthen the humanitarian response, support efforts to reach a ceasefire, and push towards a comprehensive political solution and civilian transition.
During his intervention, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan stressed the necessity of ending the war, the consequences of which are borne by civilians. He also condemned all violations committed by the parties to the conflict, stressing the importance of protecting civilians.
His Excellency stressed that the position of the UAE towards the crisis that Sudan has been going through since April 2023 is clear and firm, as its primary focus has been and remains focused on reaching an immediate ceasefire and an urgent humanitarian truce between the warring Sudanese parties, and reaching a peaceful solution to this conflict through an independent political transition led by civilians, and on addressing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis by providing urgent humanitarian and relief support.
His Excellency stated that, through the Quartet, the UAE has constantly called for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce to allow aid to reach all parts of Sudan without hindrance, a permanent ceasefire, and support for a transitional process leading to a civilian government independent of the parties to the conflict and extremist groups.
During his speech, His Excellency also stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts and making every possible effort to end this civil war, and the common keenness to support all endeavors that contribute to ending the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people and supporting their legitimate aspirations for security, stability and a decent life.
His Excellency also held meetings with a number of officials on the sidelines of the conference to discuss current regional developments and ways of coordination and cooperation to support and enhance international peace and security.
The UAE affirms its firm and permanent commitment to supporting the efforts made to address this catastrophic crisis, and to working collectively with regional and international partners, especially with its partners in Africa, to ensure the achievement of stability and sustainable development for the brotherly Sudanese people, which confirms the values of human solidarity established by the leadership and people of the UAE.
