19.3%, the UAE Central Gold balance increased during the first quarter

The balance of the United Arab Emirates Central Bank of Gold increased by about 19.3%, or 4.444 billion dirhams during the first quarter of this year, reaching at the end of March to 27.425 billion dirhams, compared to 22.981 billion dirhams at the end of last year.
According to the statistical bulletin issued by the Central Bank today, the value of demand deposits grew to exceed 1.147 trillion dirhams at the end of last March, compared to about 1.109 trillion dirhams at the end of December 2024.
The deposits were distributed on demand, as at the end of March, at about 856.062 billion dirhams in the local currency, and about 291.116 billion dirhams in foreign currencies.
The value of savings deposits reached 338.788 billion dirhams at the end of March, compared to about 317.48 billion dirhams at the end of December.
The savings deposits in local currency amounted to 268.97 billion dirhams and foreign currencies about 51.817 billion dirhams.
With regard to deposits for a sake, its value was 991.757 billion dirhams at the end of last March, distributed by 614.854 billion dirhams in the local currency and 376.9 billion dirhams in foreign currencies.
Meanwhile, the statistics of banking operations issued today by the Central Bank showed that the value of transfers implemented in the banking sector in the country, through the UAEFTS system, reached 5,449 trillion dirhams distributed by about 3.331 trillion dirhams for transfers implemented by banks, and about 2.118 trillion dirhams for transfers implemented by customers.
With regard to the circulating checks, the statistic of banking operations for March showed that the value of the traded checks using their pictures exceeded 351.359 billion dirhams for about 5.615 million checks during the first three months of this year.
The value of the checks circulated during March alone amounted to about 116.712 billion dirhams for about 1.83 million checks.
According to the central data, the value of cash withdrawals from the central bank during the first quarter of this year reached 63.887 billion dirhams, while the value of cash deposits was about 47.124 billion dirhams during the same period.
