Customs inspection at Fujairah Airport frustrates an attempt to smuggle heroin into food supplements

Fujairah on June 26 / WAM / The General Administration of Ports of the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security announced that it foiled in cooperation with Fujairah International Airport, an attempt to smuggle heroin inside a large amount of nutritional supplements, thanks to the efficiency of customs inspection officers and smart technologies used in the air outlets in the country.
A press release today stated to the authority that the customs inspection at Fujairah International Airport seized a traveler with the nationality of one of the Asian countries, while trying to enter the state from his homeland.
During the search of his bag, a large amount of nutritional supplements were found, including (100) boxes containing 6000 food capsules, as well as (70) bags of a powder supplement.
After examining the contents of these supplements using modern technologies, the results showed the presence of narcotic heroin inside the capsules, and the necessary legal measures were taken.
The authority confirms that thwarting the attempt to smuggle embodies the vigilance and efficiency of customs inspection officers in the air ports, and the effectiveness of employing modern smart devices in detecting narcotic substances, which contributes to enhancing the security of society and addressing smuggling attempts.
