"Dubai Roads"Al -Safa Street expansion to enhance the flow of traffic

Dubai, June 29 / WAM / The Roads and Communications Authority announced the project to develop Al -Safa Street, from its intersection with Sheikh Zayed Street to Al -Wasl Street, with a length of 1500 meters, and includes the implementation of two bridges and two tunnels with a total length of 3120 meters, expanding surface roads and improving intersections and traffic lights.
The project contributes to reducing the flight time on Al -Safa Street, from 12 minutes to 3 minutes, and increasing the capacity of the street from 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
His Excellency Matar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said that the Al -Safa Street development project comes as a complement to the comprehensive plan announced by the authority to develop the road network in the region, and includes the development of the Umm Suqeim and Al -Wasl streets, indicating that the project serves a vital area in which many tourism, artistic and sports activities are held, and includes vital facilities, the most important of which are City Walk, Coca -Cola Arena, educational institutions and regions Residential, commercial, hotels and luxury restaurants, as it serves the city center, regions and development projects adjacent to the financial center, and its population is estimated at more than a million people.
He added that in this project, focus on the creative and aesthetic elements, and includes developing special paths for pedestrians, bicycles and urban spaces to enhance societal communication, as well as providing a biological urban environment and cosmetic agriculture.
Al -Tayer explained that the project includes the development of Al -Safa Street from its intersection with Sheikh Zayed Street, until its intersection with Al -Wasl, and the implementation of two bridges, the first serves traffic coming from Al Wasl Street towards Sheikh Zayed streets and the financial center, and it consists of four tracks, with a length of 1005 meters, and its absorptive capacity is estimated at about 6400 vehicles per hour, while the other bridge serves the traffic from Al -Sattawa Street towards Sheikh Zayed and Center Financial with two tracks, with a length of 360 meters, and a capacity of 2,800 vehicles per hour.
He pointed out that the project also includes the implementation of the first tunnels for those coming from Sheikh Zayed and financial center, towards Al -Wasl Street with a capacity of two tracks, a length of 1005 meters, and a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour, while the second tunnel is located at the intersection of Al Wasl Street with Al -Safa Street, and is 750 meters long, and with two tracks in each direction, and its absorptive capacity is estimated at about 6,400 vehicles per hour in both directions.
The project includes the expansion of the street from three tracks in each direction “governed by light signals”, to four tracks in each direction, including two free traffic routes, and two paths governed by light signals, as well as the development of special paths for pedestrians, bicycles, urban spaces and cosmetic agriculture, in addition to developing and improving lighting systems, guiding plates, a rainwater drainage network, and service protection and service work Current.
His Excellency stressed that the project will contribute, upon completion, to enhance the smooth flow of traffic from the upper path of the financial center, and Sheikh Zayed Street, towards Al -Safa Street, to Al -Wasl Street, and vice versa, and will enhance the link between a number of vital roads in the region, in addition to raising the level of traffic safety.
His Excellency the General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors explained that the Al -Safa Street development project comes as a continuation of the comprehensive plan that the authority developed to develop the road network in the region, and includes the development of Al Wasl Street from its intersection with Umm Saqim Street to its intersection with the second street of December, with a length of 15 km, and the development of Umm Saqim Street from its intersection with Jumeirah Street to Al -Khail Street with a length of 6 kilometers.
