"Sharjah Arts" I launch my program "Resident artist" and"Studio"

Sharjah, June 30 / WAM / The Sharjah Foundation for the Arts launched the “Resident Artist” and “Studio” programs, which are held in a group of re -employed heritage homes and modern and contemporary artistic spaces, which are spread in a number of regions of Sharjah, within the framework of the Foundation’s continuous efforts to enhance cultural infrastructure and support multidisciplinary technical practices.

The two programs are inspired by their concepts from the material and non -material presence of water, and their locations include historical living overlooking the Creek of Sharjah, the coast of the city of Hamriyah, and the city of Kalba overlooking the Gulf of Oman.

The studio program provides various creative spaces for artists in different stages of their career, with the possibility of renting studios for up to three years, in addition to allocating free work spaces for new fine arts and doctoral students.

As for the resident artist’s program, it is open to visual artists, performance writers, poets, musicians, researchers, filmmakers, and other creators who want to develop their experimental practices, and includes travel tickets, residence and movement costs, in addition to monthly financial support, while providing access to the institution’s resources and specialized networks.

It is scheduled to open the door for the program of the artist residing soon, while the open invitation to the studio program will be launched at a later stage of this year and includes the sites that will host the programs: the building of the holdings, the house of Ubaid Al -Shamsi, the Al -Serkal house in the arts square in Sharjah, the Hamriyah studios, and the Kalba for snow.

These sites are of prominent historical and architectural importance, as some of their buildings date back to the nineteenth century, and have been restored and adapted to host artistic and cultural programs, which reflects the Foundation’s commitment to reviving the architectural heritage and turning it into contemporary spaces of creativity and dialogue.

These initiatives are part of the Sharjah Art Foundation’s vision in consolidating the emirate’s position as a regional and international center for artistic and cultural production, and to enhance the opportunities for cognitive and creative exchange between artists and society.
