The European Union and Ukraine reach an initial agreement on reviewing the provisions of trade liberalization

Brussels, June 30/ WAM/ The European Union and Ukraine reached an initial agreement on reviewing the provisions of trade liberalization under the partnership agreement between them, which is a new stage on the path of establishing a long -term framework that can be predicted at the conclusion of negotiations in the European Commission in Brussels.

The agreement takes into account the sensitivity of some of the agricultural sectors raised by the European Union member states and farmers.

The European Commission said in a statement that this review contributes to the gradual integration of Ukraine in the unified market of the European Union and as soon as it is adopted, the free -re -reviewed free trade agreement will be useful for both sides, by providing a working framework for long -term economic certainty and stable commercial relations.

The agreement stipulates that the new access to the markets is conditional on the gradual compatibility of Ukraine with relevant production standards in the European Union such as the care and use of pesticides and veterinary drugs.

It is expected that Ukraine will submit a report every year about the progress it made in this regard, and both sides will be able to activate a preventive mechanism that enables the adoption of appropriate measures in cases where imports may cause harmful effects for either parties and in the case of the European Union, an evaluation of the potential turmoil at the level of one or more member state can be conducted.
