A international welcome to lift a large part of the US sanctions on Syria

Stephen Dujarric said at the daily press conference: “We stressed, and we still emphasize the importance of ensuring the full benefit from all the procedures for reducing the penalties, and providing financial support and resources in conjunction with its alleviation.”.
He stressed that besides relieving sanctions, the transparent and comprehensive political transition – along with security and protection for all Syrians – remains the cornerstone of any permanent stability in Syria.
A common task between agencies
On the humanitarian level, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and the coordinator residing in Syria, Adam Abdel -Mawla completed a joint mission among United Nations agencies for a period of three days in the northwest of the country to the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib to assess the humanitarian needs there.
The office said that the team met the interim local authorities, the displaced societies, and the people who returned to their societies. The team also visited a health care center in Maarat al -Numan, Idlib Governorate, which the World Health Organization and its partners rehabilitated. The center provides more than 100,000 people health care, vaccinations, emergency care and maternity care.
The OCHA office also reported that the delivery of across the border aid from Türkiye has increased significantly this year, as it crossed more than 1,400 trucks to Syria until Monday. This represents five times the number of trucks that entered compared to the same period last year.
The office said that since January this year, more than 1.6 million men, women, children, health care, shelter and other forms of support have received.
Meanwhile, the Office for Humanitarian Coordination reported that explosive ammunition pollution is still leaving deadly effects across Syria. He added that since the beginning of 2025, more than 390 civilians have been killed throughout the country, including more than 100 children, and more than 500 civilians were injured due to these ammunition.
