Djokovic and Benchic to the Wimbledon tennis championship quarter -finals

London, July 7/ WAM/ Serbian Novak Djokovic, sixth seed in the world and holder of the Wimbledon championship 7 times, qualified to the quarter-finals of the current version of the tournament, after beating Australian Alex de Minor, ranked 11, with three groups to one, by (1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4), in a match that lasted three hours and 19 minutes, held this evening.

Djokovic will meet in the next round with the Italian Flavio Copoli, who in turn achieved a valuable victory over the Croatian Marine Celic, and the summer of the 2017 edition, with three groups to one as well, by (6-4, 6-4, 6-7, and 7-6), in a match that spanned three hours and 25 minutes.

This qualification is the first for Copoli to the quarter -finals of one of the Grand Salam tournaments in his professional career.
In the individual women’s competition, Swiss Plinda Penchic reached the first Wimbledon quarter-final in her career, after beating Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 18, with two groups without reply (7-6, 6-4).

In the next round, Benchic will meet with the winner of the Russian confrontation of Russian Mira Andreva and American Emma Navarro.
