Three times … high deaths due to heat in Europe

A new study concluded that climate change led to a high death due to heat by three times in the major European cities during the severe heat wave that started in late June until the beginning of this month.
The researchers from the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland analyzed the weather conditions in 12 European cities between June 23 and the second of July.
The researchers estimated that about 2,300 people died for reasons related to heat during the 10-day period, and about two-thirds of deaths- that is, about 1500 cases- dates back to climate change.
The temperatures in many of these cities increased to record levels during this time, often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Without global warming, which the study says it raised temperatures during the day in cities by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius, approximately 800 people will die due to heat.
The last heat wave has affected the most vulnerable groups such as people with chronic diseases and older people. According to the research team, 88% of the deaths that were limited were among the 65 -year -old people.
