The start of the ninth international symposium of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries "OPEC"

Vienna on July 9 / WAM / The work of the ninth international symposium of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries “OPEC”, under the slogan “Drawing tracks together … the future of global energy”, was launched today, in the presence of His Excellency Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and a number of energy and oil ministers with the participation of international energy companies, economists and representatives of international organizations.
The Secretary -General of OPEC, Haitham Al -Ghais, stressed in his opening speech the importance of dialogue and joint cooperation in light of the challenges facing the energy sector, and achieving a balance between energy security and reducing harmful emissions.
For his part, His Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Energy Minister, valued the role of OPEC as a platform for dialogue that works to secure energy at reasonable prices in light of unstable and unclear conditions, and stressed the importance of cooperation and communication between all countries in the field of energy, stressing the continued survival of oil and gas as an energy source and a basic pillar in developing the economies of developing countries, despite the growing renewable energies.
In his speech, Wolfgang Hatmanforver, Austrian Minister of Energy and Economy, urged cooperation with the aim of reaching solutions to energy challenges, pointing out that oil provides about 30% of the global energy need.
