The decision to raise the name of the UAE from high -risk countries in the field of money laundering is the culmination of qualitative diplomatic efforts led by Abdullah bin Zayed

Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, valued the decision issued by the European Parliament to agree to raise the name of the United Arab Emirates from the list of high -risk countries in the field of money laundering and terrorist financing, stressing that this decision reflects the advanced position that the state has reached in establishing an integrated and effective regulatory and legislative system, according to the highest international standards.
He praised the qualitative diplomatic efforts led by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, which resulted in achieving this important achievement, embodying the rational leadership’s approach to enhancing transparency, openness and international cooperation.
He also stressed the depth of the strategic partnership relations that bring together the Federal National Council in the European Parliament, noting the importance of building on this progress to expand the horizons of parliamentary cooperation and enhance coordination on regional and international issues of common concern.
He considered that removing the state’s name from the list opens new horizons to enhance economic and commercial cooperation, and contributes directly to accelerating the ongoing negotiations on the free trade agreement between the United Arab Emirates and the European Union, in a way that serves common interests and supports sustainable growth and economic prosperity of both parties.
