The opening of the “Zayed National Museum” in Saadiyat next December

The Zayed National Museum, the National Museum of the United Arab Emirates, opens its doors officially during the month of December, in the heart of the cultural area of Saadiyat, one of the largest gatherings of cultural institutions in the world.
This edifice celebrates the legacy of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, his interest in supporting education and knowledge, consolidating the national identity, and preserving cultural heritage.
The museum embodies the vision of Sheikh Zayed through interactive exhibitions, research, educational and public programs, drawing inspiration from the values that he believed in humanity and the revival of the inheritance and includes six permanent galleries distributed on two floors, and a showroom dedicated to temporary exhibitions, through which he narrates the story of the Emirates over 300 thousand years.
The museum’s holdings include a variety of artifacts from different parts of the country, as well as a set of loan and pieces dedicated from local and international societies, which reflects the richness and diversity of Emirati cultural heritage.
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi said: “The initiatives aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the UAE over the course of decades, since the establishment of our first cultural institutions until the features of our ambitious vision to build bridges for cultural and cognitive exchange between peoples from around the world, and the cultural region in Saadi adds a new chapter to this march through its institutions that celebrate the past And keep pace with the aspirations of the future. “
He added that the National Museum of Zayed represents the immortal legacy of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, his deep confidence in his people, and his ability to achieve achievements, the importance of education and knowledge, in order to perpetuate the values of the union, societal cohesion and pride in the national identity, the museum is not only a place to preserve history, but a message for our future generations, a beacon for our identity, and an area that tells our story And its groups, and the vulnerable feelings, memories and visions, and the Zayed National Museum will carry our message and our story to the sons of today and tomorrow.
Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, realized the importance of understanding the past in order to build a better future, and pushed his passion for exploring the heritage of the nation and preserving it to the creation of the “Al Ain Museum”, which was opened in 1971 in the Al Ain region, followed by the inauguration of the cultural complex in 1981 in the capital Abu Dhabi.
The museum collection currently includes archaeological pieces dating back to the ancient and modern stone ages, in addition to the bronze and iron ages, discovered by archaeologists for more than half a century, and includes the system of the oldest falaj in the world, and the effects of copper extraction in the Bronze Age, which is evidence of the ingenuity of parents and grandparents, and their ability to face difficulties and overcome challenges, and is considered a living witness to Sheikh Zayed’s commitment to preserve This authentic past.
Among the most prominent exhibits of the Zayed National Museum, “The Pearl of Abu Dhabi”, which is one of the oldest known natural pearls in the world, which confirms the ancient history of the diving profession in search of pearls in the Arab Gulf region; And the “Blue Quran”, which is one of the finest manuscripts in the history of Islamic art, along with a model of the ancient “Magan” boat, which represents the fruit of the first partnership of the museum’s research museum with Zayed University and New York University Abu Dhabi.
The Architectural Museum, “Pretzker” for architecture, designed Lord Norman Foster of Foster and Co., who focused on employing elements inspired by Emirati heritage, and placing sustainability at the core of his engineering vision.
The building is above five steel structures in the form of a falcon wing while flying, in a symbolic festive fertilization, which is an authentic part of the Emirati cultural heritage.
The Zayed National Museum provides a comprehensive and available experience for all generations and cultures, highlighting the ancient heritage and contemporary Emirati identity, providing a platform for dialogue and enhancing joint understanding and its exhibitions, programs and initiatives will contribute to inspiring youth, involving the owners of determination and senior citizens, and enabling global scientific research.
